“Sidesplitting”? Really?

The man whose standup concerts rule the comedy world, Jeff Dunham, will be coming to the Roanoke Civic Center on Sunday, December 11 at 5:00 p.m.  Dunham’s sidesplitting performances have made him the top grossing live comedian in North America for three consecutive years as well as the last two worldwide. Now his ever-growing legions of devoted fans have the chance to see him again.  In the coming months, concertgoers will meet two new Dunham characters: Achmed Junior, the not-as-equally skeletal son of Achmed the Dead Terrorist, and Little Jeff, a mini-version of the ringmaster himself.”

This makes me cry for comedy.  Firstly, dude is not funny.  Secondly, his material isn’t edgy – it’s racist and offensive.

I know as a fan of comedy I should support his right to develop asshat material, but can’t get behind shit like this.  What crawls up my ass and lays eggs is the fact that he’s ostensibly the TOP GROSSING COMIC ON LIVE TOUR.  For THREE YEARS.

There are so many funny people out there, but we’re paying good folding money for this.

Because I love them

And it’s a beautiful day and, again, I love them…wish I had video of them performing this.

I love this, and must credit Amber (Moose in the Kitchen) for posting it.

I’m a big fan of being solo, even though I’m an extrovert. Some of my best evenings have been spent trolling through libraries, dining out, or seeing movies by myself. And I’ve never been uncomfortable going to clubs/bars/bookstores/parties/whatever by myself, either.

As a matter of fact, I need to start doing more things by myself. Now that I think about it, I can’t recall the last time I just sat and read, or had a cup of coffee, or went to an event accompanied by no one but mydamnself.

How is it that one day I can be energetic, motivated, and productive – then the next just want to stare morosely at a computer screen all day?  Unable to complete the simplest tasks, just clicking and reclicking on blog sites, hoping someone I like has posted.

Day One:  all music is awesome.  Of course I can complete three loads of laundry AND cook a new, tasty recipe for dinner.  Ooh, let’s have a glass of wine on the porch!  I love my life.

Day Two: there is too much goddamn Barry Manilow on this MP3 player, and who the hell listens to “Cat’s In The Cradle”?  The cat can just step over the laundry pile to get to the litterbox, I don’t care.  I’m not hungry and Jag/Marigoldie/no one else has updated their blogs.  Do we have any wine?  I’m going to bed.

She’s back!

Not that blogging validates your existence, or that there should be pressure to write just for the entertainment of others, but oh hell, who am I kidding?  I’m so tickled that she’s back.

(This cracks my shit up.  I’m klassy.)
